Health & Safety Risk Assessments

Who is responsible for health and safety in the workplace?

All employers are responsible for ensuring their premises stay up to date with Health & Safety Risk Assessments regardless of the size of the business or organisation and regardless of whether it’s in the public or private sector.

While everyone has a duty to comply with health and safety guidance, it is ultimately the responsibility of the employer for overseeing health and safety compliance in the workplace. At an organisation’s premises, it falls to the employer to ensure that risks are minimised to protect the health, safety, and welfare of employees and the general public.

Health & Safety legislation is subject to change and guidance is continuously being updated. This means that it’s really important for employers to stay up to date with the latest rules and regulations, and to arrange regular Health & Safety Risk Assessments to account for any updated guidance. This will ensure that an organisation continually meets H&S compliance.

In order to protect employees and members of the public from risks and dangers in your workplace, you need to follow the latest safety guidance and legislation. If you do not comply with current H&S legislation, you leave yourself open to the risk of accidents and subsequent legal action against your business. To keep on top of the ever-changing complexities, many organisations choose to work with a Health and Safety partner – like Bison Assist!

LEARN MORE ABOUT BISON ASSIST

What is a Health & Safety Risk Assessment?

With minimal disruption to your working routine, a Bison Assist Health & Safety Risk Assessment will involve an in-depth inspection of your premises by a friendly and helpful health and safety assessor to measure the current risk associated with any hazards in your workplace against the relevant guidance and legislation.

They will inspect any potential physical risks in the workplace and investigate how successfully your organisation is following relevant safety processes and procedures. Both your strengths and weaknesses will be recorded to give you a thorough overview of what you are doing successfully as well as what you need to improve – and they’ll help with advice on how to make those improvements.

You will be provided with a report detailing the steps required to eliminate any hazards identified in your workplace alongside our recommendations for how you can achieve this. Our consultants can also help you identify who is responsible for ensuring each hazard has been eliminated. Your hazards will be ranked in order of priority so you can identify the most important next steps in meeting compliance.

All our recommendations are based on our consultants’ qualified expertise and knowledge of H&S best practice and will guide you to meet your legal health and safety obligations.
